What Treatments Does Your Physical Therapy Team Offer?
Our physical therapists optimize physical function, reduce pain and prevent re-injury with the following treatments and techniques:
- Prehabilitation: Physical therapy before surgery increases strength and range of motion in the affected body part. This preparation can help optimize your surgical outcome and improve your recovery process.
- Manual therapy: With hands-on physical therapy, we move, stretch and massage soft tissues and joints. Manual therapy can reduce pain sensitivity and inflammation, and it may enhance muscle conditioning.
- Functional retraining: With this technique, your physical therapist will teach you how to use the best movement patterns and positions for everyday activities such as taking a shower, getting dressed and household chores.
- Neuromuscular re-education: To help you perform specific functions and tasks, our physical therapists can strengthen and re-teach the mind-body connection to improve stability, balance and movement patterns.
- Strength and posture training: We assess your body mechanics when sitting, standing and walking. Your physical therapist will create personalized treatment programs to address your musculoskeletal system in a variety of situations, including sitting, standing and while moving.
- Fall prevention: People who have experienced a stroke or brain injury, or who are managing a balance disorder such as vestibular dysfunction may be at an increased risk for falls. Your physical therapist can evaluate your fall risk and provide you with equipment or techniques to increase your safety and stability.
