Critical Care Manual - Ventilated Patients

This manual was developed as a tool to assist rehab staff (PT/OT/PTA/COTA) in clinical decision making in critical care units at Henry Ford Hospital.

It is important to understand that this manual is a source of guidance only, and that some patients may have vent settings that fall outside of the "normal" yet will still be medically stable. As such, some patients may continue to receive therapeutic interventions from rehab therapy staff.

It is expected that the treating therapist will utilize this manual in addition to critical reasoning, medical record review and collaboration with medical team to determine medical stability and activity progression.
