The Henry Ford Hospital (HFH) Acute Care Physical Therapy Residency program, offered by the Department of Rehabilitation Services at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, is designed to elevate the general PT practitioner to a specialist within an acute care setting.
The HFH Acute Care Residency Program curriculum follows 8 rotations including: medicine/surgery, orthopedics, neurology/neurosurgery, cardio-pulmonary, Medical ICU, Surgical ICU, Neuro ICU, and Cardiovascular ICU. For each rotation, the resident is paired with a mentor who has extensive knowledge and expertise in each practice area. Other opportunities include: clinical education, teaching in a local DPT academic program, clinics, research, rounds, and process improvement.
Residents will be paid a resident salary and are eligible for benefits as per Henry Ford Health policy. There is no tuition fee for participation in the residency program.

Acute Care Residency Program Mission Statement
To develop physical therapists who excel in the science and art of providing comprehensive, individualized, evidence-based care to acutely ill patients across a broad range of diagnoses and presentations, with a focus on education and advocacy for the physical therapy profession within the acute care environment.
Accreditation Status
The Henry Ford Hospital Acute Care Residency Program is accredited by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education as a postprofessional residency program for physical therapists in acute care.
